'He Wasn't Trying To Get Me Out': James Anderson's Huge Allegation Against Jasprit Bumrah

Ind vs Eng: Jasprit Bumrah had caused a lot of trouble for James Anderson during England's first innings by bowling some furious bouncers.

New Delhi: The recently-concluded Ind vs Eng Lord's Test was very special for the Virat Kohli-led Indian cricket team and lethal speedster Jasprit Bumrah. The star bowler (89-run 9th wicket partnership between him and Mohammed Shami) played a crucial role, both with the bat and bowl, to help India attain a memorable win.

Team India's historic victory in the Lord's Test will not just be remembered for Bumrah's heroics but also the on-field heated competetion between him and England's veteran paceman James Anderson.

Bumrah had caused a lot of trouble for tail-ender Anderson during England's first innings by bowling some furious yorkers and bouncers to him. Now Anderson has given his reaction to Bumrah's bouncer barrage.

"I got caught off guard a little bit because all the batters coming in were saying how slow the pitch was," Anderson said on the Tailenders podcast.

"Banged in short; it was really slow. When I came out to bat, Joe said Bumrah was not bowling as quick as he normally does. And then, the first ball was 90 miles an hour and on the money, wasn't it? And it felt like I haven't felt like this ever in my career. I felt he wasn’t trying to get me out," Anderson said.

"I felt he wasn't trying to get me out. He bowled an over, maybe 10, 11, 12 balls. He was bowling no-ball after no-ball, bowling short. I think he bowled two on the stumps which I managed to dig out. So for me, it was just about trying to survive that and get Joe back on strike," said Anderson.

The highly-waited third Test match of the India vs England five-match series is slated to be played from August 25 at the Headingley, Leeds. Virat Kohli & Co. currently lead the series 1-0 and will aim to win the Ind vs Eng 3rd Test to take an unassailable lead in the series.
