'Haven't Seen A Spell Like This In India': Rohit Sharma Lauds Prasidh Krishna For His Heroics In 2nd ODI
Skipper Rohit Sharma heaped praise on Prasidh Krishna for bowling his career-best spell of 4/12. The pace bowler mostly troubled the Caribbean batters with his pace and bounce.
New Delhi: Rohit Sharma-led Indian team have won the three match ODI series against West Indies 2-0 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. The Men in Blue attained a 44-run win in Ind vs WI 2nd ODI to take an unbeatable 2-0 series lead. Prasidh Krishna's four-wicket haul helped team India defend a 237 run target.
During the post-match presser, skipper Rohit Sharma heaped praise on Prasidh Krishna for bowling his career best spell of 4/12. The spinner mostly troubled the Caribbean batters with his pace and bounce. Brandon King, Darren Bravo and Nicolas Pooran gave away their wickets to him as the 25 year old fast bowler from Karnataka foxed them with the extra bounce he extracted from the pitch in Ahmedabad.
At the post match presentation ceremony captain Rohit Sharma said, "I haven't seen a spell like this from a fast bowler on Indian soil since a long time. To bounce the batsmen out on Indian conditions is never easy and Prasidh Krishna has done that here."
The 25-year-old fast bowler has played 6 ODI matches so far and captured 15 wickets with an average of 18.26 and economy rate of 5.07.
Prasidh Krishna has proved himself as a match winner in the shortest format of the game during his stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders but the IPL franchise team hasn't retained him for the 2022 season. Krishna thus will be up for sale in the mega auction coming up on 12th and 13th February in Mumbai.
After his brilliant show in Ahmedabad it seems that a number of franchise teams will go all out to keep him in the squad.
Both Jasprit Bumrah and Mohd Shami were given rest in this series after taking heavy workload in South Africa and in their absence the way bowlers like Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur and Mohd Siraj have delivered will certainly make the coach and skipper happy.
Rohit Sharma has indicated that the experiment mode will continue in order to have more options ready leading up to the 2023 World Cup and it seems the experiment is going well for the team following a dismal show in South Africa .
