ICYMI | 187 Goals In Two Matches: Sierra Leone Probes 'Impractical' Scorelines Of 91-1 and 95-0

Sierra Leone Football Association is investigating officials and players involved in the two matches, has said it has zero tolerance for match manipulation or anything of the sort.

Gulf FC and Kahula Rangers, two professional football teams in Sierra Leone, did something unbelievable recently. Playing different opponents in two separate first division matches, they won with stupendous scorelines of 91-1 and 95-0, respectively. While Gulf FC beat Koquima Lebanon, Kahula Rangers defeated Lumbenbu United.

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) believes these are not normal scores, and has launched an investigation into the two matches that saw 187 goals in all, calling them “impractical results”.

The soccer governing body of the West African country said officials involved in the two matches and players of the four teams, besides the Eastern Region Football Association, were being investigated.

The association also said it has zero tolerance for manipulation or anything of the sort in matches.

"The general public is therefore assured that the said matter will be thoroughly investigated and anyone found culpable will face the full force of the law," the SLFA said in a statement, which they also posted on Twitter.

If confirmed, the two scorelines of 91-1 and 95-0 would definitely rank among the highest scores recorded in the history of world football.

According to a Reuters report, the highest number of goals were said to have been scored in 2002 when AS Adema beat SO l'Emyrne 149-0 in Madagascar. But there was a catch. These were all own goals that the SO l'Emyrne players intentionally scored one after the other in protest over certain decisions by the match referee with which they disagreed.
