Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul Urge People To Shine Lights For 'Corona Warriors'

KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya asked people to light candles, torches or phone flashes at 9 p.m. for 9 mins on Sunday to show appreciation to 'Corona warriors'

Mumbai: Days after the stupendous success of the 'Janata curfew ', PM Modi had once again urged citizens to light candles and diyas on April 5 at 9 p.m to show COVID-19 the strength of Indian unity and light.  Now, team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya and wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul took to Twitter to appeal to people to light candles, torches or phone flashes at 9 p.m. for 9 mins on Sunday to show appreciation to 'Corona warriors' who are working 24/7 in the fight against the fast-spreading coronavirus. "Let's shine our lights on the Frontline Warriors who are showing us the path from this darkness! Let's ignite the spirits of a billion strong TEAM INDIA @BCCI. From our Dressing room, to your Doorstep, the Lakshman Rekha has been drawn..." said Pandya in his tweet. Taking to Twitter, Rahul wrote: "5th April 9pm for 9min..Stand up ! Light up ! Show us your roar, ignite the spirit of a billion hearts and throw this virus off our pitch without a hitch ! The spotlight is on you, together, we can win! @narendramodi @BCCI." PM Modi on Friday spoke to eminent sports personalities as the country fights the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, the spread of coronavirus has impacted sporting events all over the world as all national T20 leagues have been called off or postponed. Due to the pandemic, India vs South Africa ODI series was rescheduled after the first game being washed away due to incessant rains, without a ball being bowled. The mega-event in this year's cricketing calendar - ICC T20 World Cup 2020 - is slated to take place in Australia this year, from October 18 to November 15.
