Earlier, PV Sindhu (women's singles) and 20-year-old Lakshya Sen (men's singles) brought glory to the nation by winning gold medals in their respective categories.

In the first game of the mixed doubles final, the Indian pair of Satwik-Chirag put on a scintillating performance to beat the opposing England pair. The Indian pair won the first set 21-15 and took a crucial 1-0 lead in the match.

In the second set, the Indian pair and the England pair started with a 1-1 tie.  After this, the Indian pair gained quick momentum, taking a 5-3 lead and in no time 21-13 to win the second game and the final match.
