CSK Head Coach Stephen Fleming Reacts To DRS Glitch During IPL 2022 Match Against MI

Reacting to the DRH controversy, Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming feels his team was a bit unlucky after they were unable to review two contentious LBWs against Conway and Robin Uthappa.

New Delhi: A massive controversy erupted after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in-form batter Devon Conway was unable to use DRS for an on-field out decision. Due to a power issue at Mumbai's Wankhede cricket stadium, the review system wasn't available. After Conway was adjudged LBW out by the on-field umpire, replays showed that there was a chance that the ball might have missed hitting the leg stump. Conway, the batter who was in great batting form for CSK, could have scored big for his team. Eventually, CSK kept on losing wickets as Mumbai Indians (MI) crushed the defending champions by five wickets. The loss against MI also knocked Chennai out of the IPL 2022 Playoffs race.

Robin Uthappa was also given out lbw in the next over bowled by Jasprit Bumrah, even then there was a possibility of him surviving if DRS was available.

Reacting to the DRH controversy, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming feels his team was a bit unlucky after they were unable to review the two contentious LBWs against Conway and Robin Uthappa.

"It was a little bit unlucky that it happened at that time. We were a little disappointed, but that's still part of the game, isn't it? It sort of set off a chain of events that were not in our favour," said Fleming.

CSK seamers Mukesh Choudhary (3/23) and Simarjeet Singh (1/22) starred with the bowl for Chennai on an otherwise a forgetful evening. Mumbai Indians has restricted MS Dhoni & Co. to 39-6 before a hard-fought knock from MS Dhoni ( unbeaten 36) propeled CSK to the three-figure mark.

"The new-ball bowling of Simarjeet and Mukesh was outstanding. We've been developing Mukesh all the way through the season so for him to now feel confident enough to bowl a spell like that ... and Simarjeet is only 3-4 games in and he made some good gains," added Fleming.
