The legend of Shikhar Dhawan in ICC tournaments continued to grow as his stylish hundred formed the cornerstone of a fantastic batting display that powered India to a commanding 352 for five against Australia in World Cup. The left-handed opener's 17th ODI hundred (117 off 109 balls) was well complemented by fellow opener Rohit Sharma's 57 off 70 balls with the openers raising a stand of 127. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have equalled the record of Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist for second most 100-plus opening partnerships in ODIs 26 – Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly 16 – Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist 16 – Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan
  1. Shikhar Dhawan – third Indian to hit at least three World Cup tons
Dhawan, who is playing just the 2nd World Cup of his career, cruised into the record books by becoming the 3rd Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly to score at least three hundreds in the marquee event. Overall, it was Shikhar's 17th ODI hundred and 3rd at The Oval.

Dhawan and Rohit also became the 3rd successful batting pair for India in ODI Cricket. They equalled the record of most number of 100-plus run partnership (16) between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma 26 – Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly 16 – Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli 16 – Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan
    1. Rohit Sharma – Fastest to 2k runs against Australia
Rohit Sharma on Sunday joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Viv Richards and Desmond Haynes in an elite list of cricketers as he became the 4th player to aggregate 2000 runs in ODIs against Australia. Rohit, who is presently playing his 37th innings against Australia, has become the fastest among all to score 2000 runs against the defending world champions. He, in the process, also surpassed Sachin as the fastest Indian to the milestone. 5. 4th ODI century, 1000 runs for Dhawan in England Shikhar Dhawan became the first Indian score ODI centuries on the English soil. At the same time, he also amassed 1000 ODI runs in England.
