World Cup 2019: BCCI officially launches Team India's away jersey

The BCCI took to its official Twitter account to release its first look. The jersey has an orange coloured back and a blue patch on the front side

The BCCI has finally put an end to all speculations on Team India’s away jersey by launching it officially on Friday. As the International Cricket of Council (ICC) had introduced a new rule, asking teams to sport home and away jerseys in the tournament, Virat and his men are expected to don this new outfit in their upcoming fixture against England on Sunday. India's away jersey has an orange coloured back and a blue patch on the front side. The BCCI took to its official Twitter account to release its first look. They posted the picture with a caption that read, “Presenting Team India's Away Jersey. What do you make of this one guys?” Here’s the post: The speculations of ‘orange coloured’ jerseys have already caused a huge uproar in the Indian political arena. The Congress and Samajwadi Party on Wednesday raised objections claiming that “Modi ji wants to saffronise the entire country.” On the other hand, media reports stated that colour options were given to BCCI and they chose what they felt went best with the colour combination. The whole idea is to be different as England also wears the same shade of blue as India. The design is taken from India’s old T20 jersey which had orange in it. The ICC rule reads, “For televised ICC events all participating teams will be required to provide for two different coloured kits, except for the host country who has a preference in the choice of colour and may, if it chooses to do so, provide only one coloured kit to be worn in all matches throughout the event. In advance of the event, the teams will be notified which coloured kit will be worn in each match.”
