What Happens If IND vs AUS T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 Match Is Washed Out?

IND vs AUS Washout?: What happens if the India vs Australia T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 match gets washed out?

What Happens If IND vs AUS T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 Match Is Washed Out?: India will face Australia in their last match of the Super 8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 on June 24 (Monday) at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet in St Lucia. The IND vs AUS match is a must-win for both teams to secure a spot in the semi-finals, but more so for Australia as they lost their last match against Afghanistan and must win to remain in contention for a spot in the semi-finals. However, there is a concern that rain could potentially disrupt the proceedings, raising the possibility of an IND vs AUS washout.

According to AccuWeather, the weather forecast predicts cloudy and windy conditions with a 40 percent chance of rain. Cloud cover is expected to be around 66 percent and morning temperatures are anticipated to be around 32 degrees.

What Will Happen If Rain Disrupts IND vs AUS T20 WC 2024 Match?

If rain disrupts the IND vs AUS Super 8 T20 World Cup 2024 match in St. Lucia, both teams will earn one point each. In this scenario, India would secure their spot in the semi-finals, while Australia would reach three points, one point ahead of Afghanistan's current standing. In such a scenario, Australia would rely on Afghanistan losing their final match against Bangladesh to maintain their one-point lead over them and to reach the semi-finals. However, if the IND vs AUS match gets washed out and Afghanistan defeat Bangladesh in their last Super 8 match, Australia will be eliminated from the tournament and Afghanistan will proceed to the semi-finals.

Is There Any Reserve Day For In Case Of IND vs AUS Washout?

There is no provision for a reserve day for the Super 8 match between India and Australia. Reserve days are scheduled for the first semi-final and the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 to accommodate any disruptions caused by bad weather. However, there is no provision for a reserve day for the second semi-final if it is affected by bad weather. This is due to the limited one-day gap between the second semi-final and the final.
