Awful Batting Performance By West Indies Paves Way For Possible Day 3 Loss Against South Africa

At the end of Day 2, West Indies were 82/4 which is still 143 runs behind SA's score. This has opened up the threat of finishing the Test match on Day 3. Check out the full report.

St Lucia: West Indies cricket looks attractive in the shorter format of the game, but when it comes to playing Test match cricket, the team is not being able to match the international standards. They registered their lowest-ever total on Thursday.

After getting all-out for 97 runs, West Indies were struggling to overcome South Africa's first-innings lead. At the end of Day 2, West Indies were 82/4 which is still 143 runs behind SA's score. This has opened up the threat of finishing the Test match on Day 3. It would be a shameful defeat for the Windies.

Actually, West Indies are playing a two-match Test series against South Africa at home. The Test series will be followed by a 5-match T20Is series. After restricting West Indies to 97 runs in the first innings, South Africa scored 322 runs courtesy of a brilliant 141 by Quinton de Kock. Ngidi and Nortje were the pick of the bowlers. SA had a good lead going into the second innings.

West Indies failed to impress yet again with their batting and now they find themselves in a spot of bother as West Indies face a Test match loss on Day-3. Despite winning a Test series against Bangladesh in February, West Indies continue to falter when they face tougher opponents.

Anyone aware of the game of Windies of the 70s would be unpleasantly surprised looking at the deterioration of the team in the recent past.

Nonetheless, credit needs to be given o Quinton de Kock who managed to score a hundred in testing conditions. For West Indies, Jermaine Blackwood and Roston Chase will begin proceedings on Day 3.
