Sir Wesley Hall encouraged Kohli to score more centuries and praised him as one of the great players of the game.
"I just told him that he's the best batsman in the world. I can't say any more than that. If anybody told me I'm the best boy in the world, I’d say, thank you," Sir Wesley said, as per Cricbuzz.
Virat Kohli will return to action on Thursday when India plays their first T20 World Cup Super 8 match against Afghanistan. Kohli has been under scrutiny for his poor form in the tournament, having managed only 5 runs from three group stage matches. For India to advance to the T20 World Cup 2024 final and end their 11-year ICC trophy drought, Kohli's form will be a crucial factor.
Sir Wesley Hall praised India's pace bowling unit, calling them 'top class'.
"The point is, I’d rather get you out than hit you. You know what I mean? I think Indian fast bowling is top class. It doesn't really matter who gets the first wicket or the second one, but you know that they’re good enough to deal with it. And that's the way you should look at it. You want your bowlers to be [like that]. Look at your fast bowlers. When I played, you had one fast bowler. I mean, one genuinely fast bowler. That was Kapil Dev. And a lot of spinners, a lot of great spinners. But things have changed. I think they’ve [fast bowlers] have done very well for India," he added.
