WATCH: Shubman Gill's Controversial Dismissal Gets Recreated In TNPL As Fielder's Catch Is Adjudged 'Clean' By Third Umpire

The decision taken by the third-umpire went in favour of the bowling team on both the occasions.

Not only cricketers but even those who officiate in the game are constantly under scrutiny and feel the pressure. Often decisions taken by the umpires become a matter of public debate. While in some cases, umpiring decisions do turn out to be the wrong one, on all occasions, sportspersons are expected to trust their judgement and their interpretation of the rules of the sport. The decision to give Shubman Gill out was one such decision that was a contentious one given by the third-umpire in the ICC World Test Championship final between India and Australia.

In India's second innings, the Men in Blue had got off to a positive start but off the bowling of Scott Boland, Gill's shot produced an edge which went to Cameroon Green's left. While it looked like he had taken the catch completely, there was one particular frame which showed that perhaps the fingers were not underneath the ball as he was completing the catch. However, the umpire was convinced and Gill had to walk back.

A similar controversy has now erupted in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) during the match between Nellai Royal Kings and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans on Tuesday at the NPR College Ground,  Dindigul. It was the dismissal of Laxmesha Suryaprakash by P Bhuvaneswaran that happened in almost a similar manner in which Boland had got rid of Gill.

Fielder S Radhakrishnan was the fielder in question this time around and despite there being no clarity, the umpire somehow was convinced that the batter was out and Suryaprakash had to depart.

Take a look at the controversial dismissal here:

Talking about the match, The Tamizhans opted to bowl first and then bowled out the Kings for 124. They then comfortably reached their target with 10 balls to spare and won the match by 7 wickets. Bhuvaneswaran, with a five-wicket haul (5/17), emerged as the pick of the bowlers for the winning side.
