Patrolling the boundary, Cottrell covered a lot of ground before taking an absolute one-handed blinder, throwing the ball up in the air, regaining his position inside the boundary, and completing the dismissal.

West Indian speedster Sheldon Cottrell took an absolute screamer of a catch to dismiss Steve Smith during West Indies’ World Cup clash with Australia at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Wednesday. Patrolling the boundary, Cottrell covered a lot of ground before taking an absolute one-handed blinder, throwing the ball up in the air, regaining his position inside the boundary, and completing the dismissal. The catch proved to be a turning point in the context of the game as it sent Steve Smith back to the pavilion at a stage he was looking in full control at the crease, stitching a resilient partnership with Alex Cary to resurrect a stuttering innings. It was a good day in the park for Cottrell as the Windies pacer made major inroads into the Australian batting by dismissing opener David Warner and Glen Maxwell. Batting first Australia had posted a challenging 288-run total on the back of a late recovery staged by Steve Smith,Alex Carey and Nathan Coulter Nile. Earlier in the Australian innings, the West Indies seamers had wrecked through the Australian top order, reducing them to 38 for 4.
