Veteran Indian left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja made a remarkable comeback to India’s ODI squad in the Asia Cup 2018. He performed magnificently in the Super Four round while in the final, he yet again proved that why has he been known as one of the best fielders in the Indian team.

The incident happened in the 27^th over when Jadeja exhibited a brilliant piece to run Mohammad Mithun out.

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was bowling the over and superbly restricted the Bangladesh batsmen as he conceded just one run in five balls. Surmounted by the pressure, opener Liton Das tried to break the shackles and attempted to steal a quick single after smashing a fine cover drive.

But Jadeja, who was fielding at the mid-off area, did no mistake to overturn opposition’s strategy. Diving a full length to his left, he covered a distance of 6.61 meters in almost a second and sent it straight to the bowler who dislodged the bails in a flash. The scenario for Bangladesh looked like a comedy of errors as both batsmen were stranded at the same end and Mithun was run out for 2.

After India won the game by 3 wickets, stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma appreciated the way Jadeja justified his comeback after a gap of 15 months.

“When you are out of the team you have that fire inside, you have that burning desire where you want to make a comeback and prove yourself rather than proving anyone else. I think he has proved himself in this tournament that he is much better than what he was before. His bowling, batting and fielding abilities are very crucial to the team,” he added.

Jadeja made his return to the playing eleven exactly after 442 days with his last game coming against the West Indies at Sabina Park on July 6, 2017
