Vinod Kambli's wife, Andrea Hewitt, has grabbed the headlines by revealing the reason behind her decision to divorce the former Indian cricketer. The 42-year-old stated in a recent interview, that the condition of her husband forced her to decide upon staying by his side, and that, 'he is like a child'.
"I once thought about it (separating). But I realised that he would be helpless if I leave him. He is like a child, and that hurts me. It makes me feel worried. I would not even leave a friend, and he is obviously more than that. I remember there were moments when I would just walk away. But then I would be worried: Has he eaten or not? Is he on the bed properly? Is he okay? Then I had to check on him, and I would understand that he needed me," said Andrea Hewitt.
"Most of the time, I had to explain the situation to myself, I am 'Papa' and I am the 'mom' in the family. My son Cristiano understood everything, he didn't bother me at all, he understood all the emotions on my face," she added.
Andrea Hewitt had filed for a divorce with Vinod Kambli back in 2023. The reasons back then were domestic violence and drinking problems. Vinod Kambli 'reportedly' went to rehabilitation 14 times but failed to recover from his drinking habits, and is now suffering with illness.
This is not the first time Vinod Kambli is facing a risk of 'failed marriage', as his first wife (Noella Lewis) parted ways with him back in 2006.
Vinod Kambli's international career lasted 9 years, where he broke a series of records, and amongst the series of runs & milestones, India lost a promising career, as few controversies marred the playing time of the Mumbai-based left-handed batsman.
Andrea Hewitt and Vinod Kambli have two children: Jesus Christiano Kambli (son), and Johanna (daughter).
