T20 World Cup, IND Vs NZ: 'I Am Rooting For India Today', Says Former Pak Pacer Shoaib Akhtar

T20 World Cup: 'If India gets out at this point, then the entire tournament will become uninteresting,' said Shoaib Akhtar.

India vs New Zealand: One of the best bowlers of all time - Rawalpindi Express - Shoaib Akhtar, has said that he is 'rooting for India' in Sunday's T20 World Cup clash. India will play New Zealand in the Super 12 Group Match on Sunday at 7:30 pm.

This might look surprising for many cricket fans due to the banter that Shoaib Akhtar had with a few of the former Indian players on social media, but it is true. Akhtar put out a video on Twiter where he said that he wants to support India as the rest of the tournament will become boring without India.

"Today I want India to cruise through today. India must come ahead. If India gets out at this point, then the entire tournament will become uninteresting, but it is imperative for Inda to win the toss," said Shoaib Akhtar in a video.

Akhtar emphasized the need to win the toss on the UAE wickets. He said, "If India loses the toss and New Zealand puts India into bat, then it will be much easier for NZ to chase down any total on these kinds of tracks,"

Take a look at what Akhtar said in the video:

"India faces a big challenge as they have to save themselves and win the match also," Akhtar concluded.

Only two out of the six teams in Group 2 can go through the semis. India will have to win four out of the four remaining matches to secure a semi-final berth. Thus, Sunday's match is going to be like a quarter-final for India.
