‘Koi Mazak Nahi Hai…’: Sourav Ganguly Urges India To Sever Ties With Pakistan After Pahalgam Attack

The former India captain has called for India to cut ties with Pakistan, stressing that repeated terror attacks cannot be tolerated.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has called for India to sever ties with Pakistan following the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22 (Tuesday), which left 26 people dead and sparked widespread outrage across not only India but the world.

Responding to questions about cricketing ties between India and Pakistan, the former BCCI president said that repeated terror activities on Indian soil, occurring almost every other year, should no longer be tolerated.

"Todna bhi chahiye. 100% todna chahiye. Strict action lena zaruri hai. Yeh koi mazak nahi hai yaar har saal aise hota rehta hai. Terrorism cannot be tolerated. (The ties should be broken. 100% it should be broken. It is important to take strict action. This is not a joke ever year such incidents keep happening)," he said while speaking to ANI.

When it comes to cricketing ties, India and Pakistan have faced each other only in ICC tournaments and other multinational events like the Asia Cup. The last time a bilateral series took place between the two countries was in 2012-13 when the Men in Blue hosted Pakistan for a white-ball series. India have not toured Pakistan  since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008.

Even matches between India and Pakistan in ICC and other multinational events have been held only at neutral venues. India last toured Pakistan in 2008 and has not played there since. Earlier this year, the BCCI and the Indian government also declined to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy The Rohit Sharma-led team played their matches in Dubai, including a marquee clash against Pakistan, where they secured a comfortable six-wicket win before eventually going on to win the tournament.
