Rohit Sharma Congratulates Murali Vijay After He Announces Retirement

India’s veteran opener Murali Vijay declared his retirement from all forms of international cricket on Monday. He donned the Indian jersey in 87 matches and scored 4490 runs. Vijay made most of his appearances in the red ball format, scoring 3982 runs at an average of 38.29 in 61 matches. He also played in 17 ODIs and 9 T20Is for the Indian team.

The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma took to Twitter and wished Vijay for his life ahead.

"Monka well done on your career bro, had a great time watching you play some of your masterpieces, specially in Australia. Good luck ahead bro @mvj888," tweeted Rohit.

Apart from Rohit, India batter Cheteshwar Pujara also tweeted, "Was a pleasure playing alongside you @mvj888. Congratulations on a fine career. Wishing you the best for all your future endeavours."

"Well done monk @mvj888. Congratulations on a wonderful career and happy retirement," tweeted India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin.

Announcing his retirement on Twitter, he wrote, “Today, with immense gratitude & humility, I announce my retirement from all forms of International cricket. My journey from 2002-2018 has been the most wonderful years of my life for it was was an honour representing India at the highest level of sport. I am grateful for the opportunities given to me by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), Chennai Super Kings and Chemplast Sanmar.”

“To all my team-mates, coaches, mentors and support staff: It has been an absolute privilege to have played with you all, and, I thank you all for helping turn my dream into reality. To cricket fans that have supported me through the ups & downs of international sport, will forever cherish the moments I spent with you all and your support has always be a source of motivation for me.”
