Rishabh Pant Health Update: Wicketkeeper Batter Set To Be Discharged In Two Weeks- Report

Pant continues to recover from the injuries he sustained in a car accident last month.

India's wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant, who is currently undergoing treatment in Mumbai for the injuries he sustained in a car accident last month, is likely to be discharged from the hospital in two weeks, as per reports. Pant has successfully undergone surgeries for his ligament injuries and continues to recover. However, even after his discharge he will have to undergo a period of rehabilitation before he can make a comeback on the cricket field.

A report carried by Times of India suggests that while Pant had sustained injuries on all his ligaments only one was medically operated and the others will be allowed to heal naturally. The medical experts currently supervising Pant's health don't want the stumper to undergo anymore surgeries.

"All the ligaments were injured. The Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) is a cause of concern. The doctors said that Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) surgery was absolutely necessary. Now, his PCL will be assessed in two weeks. Hopefully, it will not need any further surgery. As of now, he essentially has undergone just one major surgery," a BCCI source told TOI.

As per this report, rehab will begin only after the ligaments heal which could take a period of around six weeks. However, his health will be assessed after two months. In all likelihood though, Pant's return to cricketing action is unlikely before at least 4-6 months as the Delhi Capitals captain will also have to take counselling sessions prior to that.

The road to recovery has begun: Pant

The 25-year-old recently issued his first statement since the accident.

"I am humbled and grateful for all the support and good wishes. I am glad to let you know that my surgery was a success. The road to recovery has begun and I am ready for the challenges ahead. Thank you to the @BCCI, @JayShah & government authorities for their incredible support," he wrote on social media.

"From the bottom of my heart, I also would like to thank all my fans, teammates, doctors and the physios for your kind words and encouragement. Looking forward to see you all on the field.  #grateful #blessed," he added.

Pant was driving from Delhi to Roorkee when he reportedly dozed off and lost control of his vehicle.
