Prithvi Shaw Makes First Public Appearance With Girlfriend Nidhhi Tapadiaa At IIFA 2023

Prithvi Shaw did not have the best of seasons this IPL and accumulated 106 runs in eight matches for DC.

Indian cricket star Prithvi Shaw, who is currently out of reckoning for a place in the national team, made his first public apperance with his girlfriend Nidhi Tapadia at the IIFA awards on May 26 (Friday). At the green carpet of IIFA, Shaw posed Nidhi, a video of their entry has also gine viral on social media. While the 23-year-old Delhi Capitals (DC) opener was dressed in all black, donning a sleeveless jacket, black shirt, black jeans along with a black cap, Nidhi, known as a model and actor, also wore black with the couple posing for the photographers.

Significantly, the cricketer recently participated in the ongoing IPL 2023 for the DC but struggled with his form initially, resulting in him being dropped from the playing XI by the team management. However, he made a comeback to the XI and performed well by scoring a half-century against the Punjab Kings. Apart from that innings, Shaw has not contributed significantly to Delhi's performance this year.

Throughout the IPL this year, the former India Under-19 skipper only managed to accumulate 106 runs in eight matches, which raises concerns for his future performances. Despite receiving an opportunity to be a part of the Indian T20I squad, he failed to capitalize on the momentum and his underwhelming performance might lead to his exclusion from the upcoming T20I series against the West Indies. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had a breakthrough season for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2023, could replace him in the team. Jaiswal accumulated 625 runs in 14 matches.

Shaw has also been involved in a few off-field controversies that have garnered attention over the past year. One notable incident involved a heated argument with influencer Sapna Gill. There is no doubt about the kind of potential that Shaw has as exceptional performances in the Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2022 and 2023 also suggest. He amassed 595 runs in six matches in the Ranji Trophy and 332 runs in 10 matches in the previous edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT).
