With 17th general elections around the corner, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed a plethora of politicians, Bollywood actors and sports stars to encourage voter participation. He urged them to inspire more people to come out and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. On Tuesday, PM Modi took to his official Twitter account and reached out prominent personalities from a wide spectrum of society soon after posting a blog in which he made “four requests for democracy”.
Tagging Indian captain Virat Kohli, former captain MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, he urged them to inspire the Indian voters.

You are always setting outstanding records on the cricketing field but this time, do inspire the 130 crore people of India to set a new record of high voter turnout in the upcoming elections.

In another post, he tagged some of the retired cricketers including Anil Kumble, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag and requested them to promote the cause.

Mentioning cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, the Indian PM said that whenever the former cricketer says something, people take note. Hence he asked the master blaster, along with veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar and ace musician AR Rahman, to inspire more citizens to come out and vote in the 2019 elections.
