'He Just Ate Khichdi In World Cup 2011': Virender Sehwag Reveals Team India Legend's Winning Mantra

Virender Sehwag has made a funny disclosure from the 2011 World Cup, revealing that back then MS Dhoni consumed 'khichdi' throughout the entire tournament.

After a long gap of 12 years, ODI World Cup has once again returned to India. Last time in 2011, when India organized ODI World Cup in collaboration with Bangladesh, they defeated Sri Lanka in the summit clash to win their 3rd World Cup title, first-ever on home soil. Now that the 2023 ODI World Cup is going to be held in India, Rohit Sharma & Co. are the top-contenders to win the prestigious tournament. Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag made a funny disclosure from the 2011 World Cup, revealing that MS Dhoni consumed 'khichdi' throughout the entire tournament.

On Tuesday, BCCI announced ODI World Cup 2023 schedule in collaboration with the ICC in Mumbai. A special program was organized on this occasion, which was hosted by famous sports presenter Gaurav Kapoor. During this, Gaurav interviewed Sri Lanka's legendary off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan and Virender Sehwag. It was during this interaction when Sehwag made this revelation regarding Dhoni's 'superstition'.

"Where ever we went, people use to say that the hosting nation had never won the world cup. Everyone was using their own superstition, MS Dhoni ate khichdi in the whole tournament saying that even if I am not scoring runs, the team is winning by eating khichdi," Sehwag added.

The ex-India opener said he started watching cricket in the 1992 world cup to see Sachin Tendulkar. Sehwag termed his World Cup career as an "up-and-down journey".

"I started watching cricket in the 1992 world cup, I was at eight standard. I watched that world cup to see Sachin Tendulkar. I use to feel that if I get the chance to play the world cup, I would feel proud and make my nation proud. I have played three, I have lost one final, and won one final and in another, we did not qualify for the second round. World Cup had been an up-and-down journey. The best was the 2003 and 2011 World Cup," Sehwag further said.
