ODI World Cup 2023 list of injured players: The biggest cricketing event of the year, ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023, will begin on October 5 at Ahmedabad's iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. The tournament opener will be played between 2019 World Cup winner England and runner-up New Zealand. A total of 48 ODI World Cup matches will be played across 10 Indian cities over the course of 46 days. Naseem Shah got injured while he was bowling during India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 Super Four fixture. The star pacer, who was important for Pakistan's ODI World Cup plans, has now been ruled out to the mega ICC event.

Sri Lanka's mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana, current highest wicket-taker for his national team in ODIs in 2023, suffered hamstring injury while playing against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023.

Star pacer Mitchell Starc hasn't played any match for Australia ever since his shoulder injury during IND vs ENG Ashes 2023 Test series in July. He also hasn't been named in Australian squad for IND vs AUS ODI series.

Star India all-rounder Axar Patel suffered a thigh injury during IND vs BAN Asia Cup Super 4 match. He was ruled out of Asia Cup 2023 Final and is expected to miss first two ODIs of three-match Ind vs Aus ODI Series. 

South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje suffered a stress fracture midway through South Africa vs Australia ODI series. As per media reports, he is expected to fully recover in time for ODI World Cup 2023.

A lethal delivery from South Africa pacer Gerald Coetzee hit Australia star Travis Head, after which his left hand was fractured. The star batter most likely won't recover before ODI World Cup 2023.

Steve Smith has been on the road to recovery for the last one month after he injured his wrist and is expected to make Australia comeback with IND vs AUS first match in ODI World Cup 2023 on October 8.

In a huge blow to New Zealand's chances of winning the ODI World Cup trophy this year, their key pacer Tim Southee fractured his right thumb while fielding against England in an ODI match.

Pakistan's star fast-bowler Haris Rauf sustained a side strain while bowling on day 1 (Sunday) of IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 fixture. He, however, is expected to attain fitness ahead of ODI World Cup 2023 in India.

Sri Lanka's star pacer Dushmantha Chameera picked up a shoulder injury in the Lanka Premier League 2023, due to which he even missed the Asia Cup 2023. It is not clear whether he'll be able to get fit in time for ODI World Cup 2023.
