Not Kohli But Dravid Scored India's First Ever Ton In Pink-Ball Cricket

While Kohli became India's first ever century maker in Day-Night Test, it was former Indian batting great Rahul Dravid who holds the record for registering India's first ton playing against the pink ball in a competitive match.

India skipper Virat Kohli on Saturday created a first of sorts as he became India's maiden ton maker in Day-Night Test cricket after notching up his 27th ton in the ongoing Day-Night Test against Bangladesh being played at the iconic Eden Gardens at Kolkata. The 31-year-old, regarded as run-machine of Indian cricket, brought his century by nudging the ball on the leg-side in the 38th over of India's first innings bowled by spinner Taijul Islam. Kohli broke numerous batting records on his way to his 27th ton and was lauded all across the globe for his stellar feat with the willow. While Kohli became India's first ever century maker in Day-Night Test, it was former Indian batting great Rahul Dravid who holds the record for registering India's first ton playing against the pink ball in a competitive match. The fine technician with the willow had scored the ton while playing for MCC against English County side Nottinghamshire way back in 2011.It is notable that the pink ball was trialed during that match. Dravid had registered a two-ball duck in the first innings before coming back strongly to score a ton in the second innings. His 106-run knock was the highest score of the match as he helped MCC win the match by 174 runs.
