Nervous 90s: List of all-time great victims and survivors
It is nothing unusual as the greatest batsmen in the history of Test cricket have been victims of nervous nineties
Once again Rishabh Pant fell in the nervous nineties against West Indies on Sunday as he was dismissed 8 runs short of what could be his second century in Test cricket. It was the second time in two successive innings that Rishabh failed to convert the nineties into a hundred and on both the occasions he was 8 runs short of a three-figure mark.
With two consecutive nineties, Pant equalled none other than the batting legend Rahul Dravid (who also happened to be his coach at the under 19 level). 21 years back, Rahul was the victim of the nervous nineties twice in as many innings against Sri Lanka.

It is nothing unusual as the greatest batsmen in the history of Test cricket have been victims of nervous nineties.
With the field set becomes little tighter in order to create more pressure to get the batsman out, many batters become victims of psychological pressure and fail to convert scores of the nineties into centuries.
Former Australian opener Michael Slater had an awful record. Slater was dismissed nine times in the nineties in his Test cricket career.
Caribbean great Alvin Kallicharan was a victim of the nervous nineties 7 times in Test cricket.
Sachin Tendulkar, who made this term famous in India, scored 51 centuries in Test cricket but 10 times during his illustrious career, he failed to covert nineties into hundreds.
Who wasn't nervous at all while batting on the nineties?
On the top of the chart, it is none other than the legendary Don Bradman. The Aussie great was never dismissed in the nineties and went on to score 29 centuries.
Former Team India coach and Aussie middle order batsman Greg Chappell too scored 24 hundreds without getting out even once while batting on the nineties.
Former England opener Michael Vaughan achieved the three-figure mark 18 times in his Test cricket career but never been a victim of the nervous nineties.
