Nepal's Sandeep Lamichhane to play alongside Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis in CPL 2018

The CPL 2018 will kickstart from August 9 where Sandeep’s team will face the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a launchpad for a plethora of brewing cricketers from the corners of the world to showcase their talent. One of those young guns is Nepal’s leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane.

Sandeep found himself in the Delhi daredevils (DD) playing XI when half of the season was over. Still, he made the most the of the opportunity and grabbed people’s attention. As a result, he was featured in the World XI team against West Indies for a charity game at the Lord’s, under the leadership of Shahid Afridi.

Adding another feather to his cap, the young Nepali cricketer will now share the dressing with the likes of Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis in the forthcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He has recently been drafted in the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots franchise, charging him up enough to accept the challenge.

“I have been following CPL from the beginning and now I’m selected for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. It's a big achievement and again, a good challenge for me ahead. I hope I'll make it count, to play with big names, Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, it will be a good booster for me," Lamichhane told the CPL official website.

The 17-year-old cherished every moment at the DD camp during the IPL. Though he could get only three games to play, he tried his best not to disappoint any of the seniors including the head coach, Ricky Ponting.

“Playing three matches gave me a lot of confidence and I hope I will continue the same form. It is a big achievement for me and for Nepal cricketers,” said Lamichhane.

"I just want to enrich my cricket every time, so that I can help Nepal reaching new heights. The journey has been good so far and I would like to keep it on the same form so that I can help Nepal cricket,” he added.

The CPL 2018 will kickstart from August 9 where Sandeep’s team will face the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
