Mohammad Shami donates a big amount to Pulwama martyrs' families

Shami donated an amount of Rs 5 lakhs as a help to the families of the martyred soldiers and also expressed his grief over their deaths. He also assured their families of feeling secured and will always be there to help them.

Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami joined the likes of Virender Sehwag and Shikhar Dhawan to lay a helping hand towards the families of the martyred Indian soldiers in the Pulwama terrorist attack.

Shami donated an amount of Rs 5 lakhs as a help to the families of the martyred soldiers and also expressed his grief over their deaths. He also assured their families of feeling secured and will always be there to help them. “When we play for our country they stand at the borders protecting it. We stand with the families of our jawans, we will always be there for them,” he said.

40 Indian soldiers were martyred after an explosive-laden SUV rammed into a CRPF bus in the Jammu-Srinagar highway. Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad took the responsibility of the attack.

Before Shami, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan had decided to donate a hefty amount to the families of the martyred. Dhawan, who did not disclose the amount of his donation, posted a video on social media to urge people to come forward and support the Indian army and their families in this difficult situation.

Notably, former India opener Virender Sehwag had offered free education to the kids of the martyred soldiers at his Sehwag International School a day after the attack.

The Indian cricketers have been very vocal in condemning the dastardly terrorist attack that shook the nation on Valentine’s Day. The incident left a mark on cricket too with many Indian clubs and stadiums removing the portraits of Pakistani cricketers in a mark of protest. The broadcast of Pakistan Super League in India was also banned by DSports in the wake of the attack.
