Mitchell Marsh Shares Strategy To Tackle Jasprit Bumrah In IND vs AUS Brisbane Test

Mitchell Marsh is the only Australian top-order batter that Jasprit Bumrah has yet to dismiss in IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar series.

Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has revealed his approach to tackling Jasprit Bumrah, who he describes as the "best bowler in the world," ahead of the third Test between India and Australia in Brisbane.

Bumrah has been in superb form, leading the wicket tally in the ongoing IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 with 12 wickets so far.

Marsh believes the key to countering Bumrah is to challenge him and apply pressure, rather than simply defending. Despite the tough task of facing Bumrah in IND vs AUS Brisbane Test, Marsh is fully prepared and confident, with a clear strategy to take on the "best bowler in the world".

Speaking at the press conference, the all-rounder said:

"I think when you have the best bowler in the world and you are just trying to see him off he is going to have one with your name on it. I think it is about applying pressure with your own method and taking the challenge on," the Aussie all-rounder said of Jasprit Bumrah.

"We know right now he’s probably the best bowler in the world. It’s just about getting up for that challenge. It’s a big series. You want to take the best in the world on. That is certainly my mentality. (I) look forward to facing him again."

Interestingly, Mitchell Marsh is the only Australian top-order batter that Jasprit Bumrah has yet to dismiss in IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar series.

"Everyone has their own plans and we all bat differently so (its about) the situation in the game," Marsh said.

"Sometimes you have to get through a spell and sometimes it is time to attack. We have guys in our batting lineup who just play differently. Getting through your own way and moving the game forward is really important when you are facing one of the best attacks in the world."

Marsh plans to remain true to his method.

"I think I have had a really clear method over the last 18 months with the way I have gone about it. That will continue," he said.

IND vs AUS 3rd Test begins from Saturday (December 14) onwards in Brisbane, Gabba.
