Kohli, also became the quickest to achieve the milestone as he got to the landmark in his 169th international match
India skipper Virat Kohli on Friday added another feather to his already-illustrious cap when he completed 11,000 runs in international cricket across formats during the third and final T20 international against Sri Lanka in Pune.
Kohli who needed just one run before the game to reach the landmark, achieved the milestone which he picked up a single in the 13th over of India's innings after they were put into bat by Sri Lanka captain Lasith Malinga.
Kohli, also became the quickest to achieve the milestone as he got to the landmark in his 169th international match and in the process, also broke Ricky Ponting's record to become the fastest captain to attain the feat..
It is notable that Kohli is also the fastest batsman to reach 11,000 runs in ODI cricket, achieving the feat last year in the World Cup match against Pakistan in Manchester in June.
The 31-year-old has amassed 7202 runs from 84 Tests and 11609 runs from 242 ODIs while averaging over 50 in all three formats, which again is a record.
Kohli is the second Indian captain after Mahendra Singh Dhoni to score 11k runs in all three formats combined.Overall, Kohli is the sixth captain to achieve the feat after Ricky Ponting, Graeme Smith, Stephen Fleming, MS Dhoni and Allan Border.
