Pakistan Dropped Babar Azam After Humiliating Loss In Multan

Coming to the dropping of Babar Azam from Pakistan’s 11 for the second Test, the decision followed after Pakistan lost the first PAK vs ENG Test at Multan by an innings and 47 runs. They became the first team in cricket’s history to lose a Test by an innings despite scoring over 500 runs in the first innings of a Test.

After the humiliating loss, Pakistan selection committee decided to drop Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmad, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah.

However, Pakistan's assistant coach Azhar Mahmood clarified that Babar hasn't been dropped but is being rested for the remainder of the England series, with future tours in mind.

"He hasn't been dropped. He has been rested. The management also understands that there has been a lot happening in the last few months. Mentally, even if you say you're strong, it still goes on in the back of the mind. He was willing to play. But it was the decision for him and Pakistan team to give him a rest so that he can come fresh. Because after this, we're playing till April next year," said Mahmood.
