IPL 2020: DC Seamer Rabada Dethrones KXIP Speedster Shami As Purple Cap Holder, Attains Unique Wicket-Taking Record

Rabada who picked up 2 for 21 against SRH achieved a records of sorts in the IPL as he extended his own record of taking at least 2 wickets in 10 consecutive IPL games.

Delhi Capitals (DC) might have their first match of the season to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 15 runs in Game 11 of the IPL 13 played at Abu Dhabi but their South African pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada continued with his rich wicket taking form in the tournament. Rabada who picked up 2 for 21 against SRH achieved a records of sorts in the IPL as he extended his own record of taking at least 2 wickets in 10 consecutive IPL games. Rabada is now way ahead of Lankan speedster Lasith Malinga who has taken 2 wickets in eight consecutive matches. Rabada's bowling figures in his last 10 IPL matches read as - 2/21 v SRH, 3/26 v CSK, 2/28 v KXIP, 2/31 v RCB, 2/37 v RR, 2/23 v KXIP, 2/38 v MI, 4/22 v SRH, 2/42 v KKR, 4/21 v RCB. Rabada also dethroned KXIP seamer Mohammad Shami as the Purple Cap holder with the most wickets in the tournament. The South African seamer has 7 wickets from 3 matches with 3 for 26 against CSK being his best efforts in the tournament so far. Shami also has 7 wickets from 3 matches but Rabada has a superior average and economy than the KXIP speedster. Sam Curran (Chennai Super Kings), Yuzvendra Chahal (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Trent Boult (Mumbai Indians) and Sheldon Cottrell (Kings XI Punjab) are tied on 5 wickets. "I don't know (about his ability to keep taking the purple cap). It's a two-paced pitch, bowling into the deck was a good option, the square boundaries are a bit deep and I got away with a couple of half-volleys.
