CSK seamer KM Asif did not intentionally flout the norms but accidently happened to break the safety protocols around Covid-19 as he misplaced his room key and then proceeded to the reception area for a replacement, reported Indian Express.

Amidst the persistent Covid-19 threat, Chennai Super Kings fast bowler KM Asif became the first player to have breached the bio-secure bubble guidelines in the ongoing season 13 of the IPL being held in the UAE, reported Indian Express. Asif had to undergo a six-day quarantine period as per IPL 2020 rules laid down around breaching bio-secure bubble and is back now to train with the team. Asif did not intentionally flout the norms but accidently happened to break the safety protocol around Covid-19 as he misplaced his room key and then proceeded to the reception area for a replacement, reported Indian Express. As per IPL 2020 rules, the reception area doesn’t fall under the secure zone and thus the Kerala cricketer was deemed to have breached the bubble. “It was an unintentional mistake but rules had to be followed. He underwent six days of quarantine and has now resumed practice with the team,” a source in the IPL told Indian Express Asif, who is yet to play for CSK in the ongoing thirteenth edition of the IPL, has played two matches for CSK over the past season and taken three wickets in them. All the 8 franchises have been told in very clear terms about the repercussions if any of their players or official is found to have breached the bio-bubble guidelines. The bio-secure bubble norms have been put in place so as to ensure the safety of players, officials and support staff from contracting the highly contagious coronavirus pandemic.
