IPL 2019, DC vs SRH, Match 16: Hyderabad win by 5 wickets to become table toppers

Registering their third victory on the trot, Sunrisers Hyderabad are now the new table toppers of the IPL 2019

David Warner and Jonny Bairstow once again joined hands to win yet another game for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Orange Army defeated the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 5 wickets on Thursday to register their third consecutive win in the tournament. With 2 more points in their kitty, SRH have dethroned Kings XI Punjab to become the table toppers. In pursuit of the 130-run target, the duo of Warner and Bairstow continued their devastating pairing as they added 62 runs in the power-play. While the Aussie batted a bit slow, his English partner went with all guns blazing. Before Bairstow (48) could score his maiden IPL fifty, he was trapped in front by Rahul Tewatia in the 7th over. The 64-run opening stand came to an end he returned to the dressing room with 48 runs against his name. Delhi had another success in the next over as Rabada brought some relief with removing the orange cap holder, David Warner (10). Despite losing their ravishing openers, SRH dealt the situation with utmost patience as half the job was done. Vijay Shankar and Manish Pandey took charge and seemed to be finishing the game together.  However, the DC bowlers made them toil harder for the win. Ishant Sharma struck in the 13th over to dismiss Pandey (10) while Axar Patel got rid of Vijay Shankar (16), reducing the visitors 101 for 4. Yusuf Pathan and Deepak Hooda was the new pair at the crease and they needed 29 more to win. They added 10 more runs before leggie Sandeep Lamichhane hunted down Hooda on 10. However, the new man in, Mohammad Nabi took off all the pressure with his 9-ball 17 which included 2 boundaries and a six. Earlier, SRH dished out a superb bowling effort to restrict DC to a lowly 129/8. Skipper Shreyas Iyer tried to anchor the innings with a steady 41-ball 43 but he didn't get support from the other end. It would have been more embarrassing for Delhi, if not for the cameos from Chris Morris (17 off 15) and Axar Patel (23 not out off 13). The pace-spin combination of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Nabi gave Sunrisers a good start, restricting Delhi to 19 for one in first four overs after the visitors won the toss and elected to field.
