Arshdeep Singh, India's highest wicket-taker in 2024, has been named the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year at the prestigious ICC Awards. His exceptional performances throughout the year, particularly during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, earned him this well-deserved recognition.

Arshdeep Singh played a major role in India's success at ICC T20 World Cup, emerging as the team's leading wicket-taker in the tournament. His sharp bowling in the powerplay and death overs was a key factor in India's strong performances.

Having made his T20I debut for India in 2022, Arshdeep's rise has been swift. In just two years, he has become a key figure in India's bowling attack.

India's highest wicket-taker in T20Is in 2024

In 2024, Arshdeep Singh emerged as India's top wicket-taker in T20 cricket, bagging 36 wickets in just 18 matches. His average of 15.3 and an economy rate of 7.49 reflect his outstanding performance.

However, a few players have taken more wickets than Arshdeep this year, including Usman Najib (38), Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga (38), UAE's Junaid Siddiqui (40), and Hong Kong's Ehsan Khan (46). 

Rohit Sharma named captain of ICC Men's T20 Team of the Year

Earlier, ICC announced its T20 Team of the Year, with Rohit Sharma, captain of India's 2024 T20 World Cup-winning squad, leading the side. Rohit played a key role in India's historic World Cup victory in South Africa before stepping down from the T20 format.

There was no place for Virat Kohli in the team, despite his match-winning innings in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, where he helped secure the title. Alongside Rohit, the team includes key players like all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh.
