However, the dynamic duo of stand-in skipper Tahila McGrath and all-rounder Grace Harris did the damage for Aussies, as Indian bowlers looked clueless for the next 8-9 overs. Australia Women ended their innings at 151/8 and the total proved to be too much for Harmanpreet Kaur's side, who could not manage to get past the finish line, thereby, losing by 9 runs.
Here's What Sophie Molineux Said After Being Awarded Player of the Match
"Yeah, it was a really good game. India came out really hard which we knew they would but really pleased to get over the line. I think we wanted to stay calm in this game, we knew there would be pressure, the seniors stepped up today and it was a really good performance overall. It was very loud today as it was pretty much one sided towards India. The fans came out in numbers, it was quite challenging but it was a great atmosphere."
"We had a lot of experienced players so it was cool to have so many fans at the World Cup. Yeah its massive I think. Any game against India, we mark it down in our calendar's as we know it will be a great encounter against them. To be able to get over the line and everyone contributing is really a massive takeaway for us."
