Zerodha’s Nithin Kamath Responds With A Different Perspective To Gopichand's Advice; Check Here
Giving a different perspective, Kamath stressed the significance of following one’s passion, pointing out that job security is not guaranteed in any career, including those outside of sports

Zerodha co-founder Nithin Kamath has shared his thoughts on national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand’s recent comments regarding sports as a career choice. While Kamath acknowledged Gopichand’s concerns, he offered a “different perspective” on the matter.
In an interview with The Times of India, Gopichand suggested that parents should avoid encouraging their children to take up sports professionally unless they come from affluent backgrounds or have family businesses to fall back on.
Giving a different perspective, Kamath stressed the significance of following one’s passion, pointing out that job security is not guaranteed in any career, including those outside of sports.
“While I understand Pullela Gopichand's concern that ‘Unless you are rich, don't make your child a sportsperson,’ I have a different view. Imagine studying something you don't like or being stuck in a field when you know that your skills are useful elsewhere. Odds are, you may end up being less than average compared to people who are more suited to the field you hate. In this case, how can you expect job security?” Kamath said.

Kamath further discussed how the AI-driven future is transforming career opportunities, making adaptability crucial. “This is all more problematic in the AI-first world we are entering. This applies to sports as well. If someone is passionate about sports, takes a shot at being a professional and fails, there are more alternatives today than ever. You can become a coach or a personal trainer. There's more demand for such folks today than at any point,” he added.
