India To Host England In Feb 2021, IPL 14 To Follow In April: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly
India vs England, February 2021:Virat Kohli & Co. will travel to Australia for a bilateral series starting December. After the completion of their international engagement Down Under, the Indian team will head back home to take on England for a series against starting February.
Cricketing action had taken a major hit with the imposition of lockdowns by various governments across the world amid the outbreak and of the Covid-19 pandemic.However, the Covid-19 induced break is over and now the Indian cricketers are very much back on the green turf with the 13th edition of the IPL in the UAE just under a month away from starting.
It will just not be franchise based cricket for the Indian cricketers as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief Sourav Ganguly came out with the road map of the international engagements for Indian cricket team for the coming 10-12 months.
BCCI President laid down the cricketing schedule for the Indian team post the culmination of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 season in UAE. In what will be a jam packed schedule for the Indian team, Virat Kohli & Co. will travel to Australia for a bilateral series starting December. After the completion of their international engagement Down Under, the Indian team will head back home to take on England for a series against starting February. The India vs England series will then be followed by the 14th edition of the IPL.
"The senior Indian men’s team will travel to Australia in December this year and will come back to the country for a series against England starting from February next year. This will be followed by IPL 2021 in April,” he wrote in the letter addressed to state associations on Thursday night, as reported by Mumbai Mirror.
2021 is going to be a busy one for Indian cricketers as the BCCI looks to make up for the lost time in the 2020 calendar due to the pandemic. Ganguly, in his letter, specified that the board is looking to start hosting cricket matches in the country from February next year and is hopeful of having a fruitful domestic season.
“In the domestic cricket context, we are currently in the off season and the BCCI is making all efforts to ensure that domestic cricket resumes as and when the conditions permit. The health and safety of players and all other involved in domestic cricket is of utmost importance to BCCI and we are constantly monitoring all aspects.
“All members will be duly informed about the future course of action and suggestions will be taken before we resume domestic cricket. We are hopeful that the Covid-19 situation will improve over the next few months and we will be able to start domestic cricket in a safe and healthy environment,” he further wrote.
