At least five have been wounded in a stabbing near central Dam Square in Amsterdam. News agency Reuters, quoting police officials, reported that a suspect has been arrested. However, there are no details about the condition of the injured.

According to BBC, quoting a video posted on social media, it shows the helicopter in front of the Royal Palace in Dam Square and emergency vehicles also inside the cordoned-off area. It also mentions that the police are urging anyone with images of the incident to upload them as evidence.

In a stabbing incident at the Sint Nicolaasstraat nearby the Dam square five people have been injured. One suspect has been arrested.

The Amsterdam police wrote on social media X that a motive is currently still unclear but part of the investigation.

The police have closed off the area where the attack occurred. The severity of the victims' injuries has not yet been divulged by the Dutch health officials.

The Times of India reported that Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema left a council debate due to the incident. Police have urged the public to avoid Dam Square and its surroundings to allow the emergency services to operate effectively.
