Irfan Pathan's IPL 2025 Playoff Teams: KKR & SRH Excluded

Irfan Pathan left out defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and last season's runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) from his list.

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has started with a flurry of high-scoring matches, where batters have dominated, and bowlers have struggled to make an impact.

Every team is packed with star players, making the playoff race highly unpredictable. However, former cricketer Irfan Pathan has made an early prediction about the four teams he believes will qualify for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 playoffs.

Surprisingly, he has left out defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and last season's runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) from his list.

Irfan Pathan's playoff picks stuns fans

On his YouTube channel, Irfan Pathan named Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Delhi Capitals (DC) as his top four contenders for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 playoffs.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) kicked off their campaign with a win against Mumbai Indians, while Delhi Capitals pulled off a dramatic victory against Lucknow Super Giants. RCB also made a strong statement by defeating defending champions KKR in their opening match.

KKR & SRH overlooked

Irfan Pathan's exclusion of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has surprised many, given their strong performances last season.

Last year's IPL final was contested between these two teams, and SRH has already set the stage on fire this season with an explosive batting display against Rajasthan Royals, recording one of the highest totals in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. Despite their strong squads, Pathan's decision to leave them out of his playoff predictions has sparked debate among fans.

Why Irfan Pathan isn't part of IPL 2025 commentary panel

"Pathan had a fallout with a couple of players a few years ago. Since then, he has not shied away from referring to them aggressively. The matter was raised that other junior players got caught in the crossfire. He has been accused of taking potshots at them on social media platforms even if he didn’t name them," sources were quoted as saying by TOI.
