India Vs Bangladesh 1st Test: India recovered pretty well after a frantic start, and end Day 1 on a strong note. Here are the details. Read below.

India Vs Bangladesh 1st Test: India end Day 1 at the score of 339/6, as Ravichandran Ashwin's impressive ton saves hosts from getting bundled out for a score less than 300. The legendary all-rounder was well-complemented by handy knocks from Ravindra Jadeja and Yashasvi Jaiswal, as they ensured that Bangladesh were kept at bay after giving India an early scare.

The new ball will be due from the very first over on Day 2, as Friday promises to produce an action-packed morning session, which can either see India getting bowled out for less than 400, or Ravindra Jadeja join Ravichandran Ashwin as the fellow centurion in this Test match.

After winning the coin toss, Najmul Hossain Shanto opted to bowl first and the visitors stunned the home crowd with an excellent start to the match, as Hasan Mahmud removed the star trio of skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill.

India were reeling at 34/3 in 9.2 overs, but Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal took the matter into their own hands and the pair notched up a partnership of 62 in 99 balls. However, Rishabh Pant's long-awaited Test return ended on an individual score of 39, as Hasan Mahmud picked up his fourth wicket.

Following the dismissal of Rishabh Pant, India stuttered again as KL Rahul too made his way back to the pavilion alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored an excellent 56 off 118 balls, as his resilient knock saw India out of trouble.

The biggest turnaround of the match came when hosts were 144/6, as it was the show of India's lower order yet again, as Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin scored impressive half-centuries to guide India beyond the socre of 300.

The duo did not stop there, as Ravichandran Ashwin scored an impressive ton, which now takes him to 6 in terms of career Test centuries, and the process, the legendary Indian all-rounder scored his second Test ton at his home ground (Chennai).

Watch Ravichandran Ashwin receive standing ovation after scoring a memorable home ton:

After 80 overs, with India ending their Day 1 at 339/6, the 7th wicket partnership now stands at an unbeaten score of 195, with the individual scores of Ashwin and Jadeja reading at 102 and 86 respectively.
