Background
IND vs AUS WTC Final 2023: The way the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final has played out over the first three days of the five-day contest, it seems like one result has been completely eliminated from this India-Australia face-off. The chances of an Aussie defeat, the way the match stands at Stumps on Day 3, is very minimal to say the least. Only two results seem possible and even in those two, it is possibility of Kangaroos' victory that seems to be the likely result which is to say that if India go on to save the Test match from here, it would be nothing short of a miracle.
After being invited to bat first, Australia posted a formidable first innings score of 469 on the board, thanks to centuries from Travis Head and Steve Smith. In response, India were bowled out for 296 with comeback man Ajinkya Rahane top-scoring for them with 89 and Shardul Thakur also scoring a half-century. On Day 2, Ravindra Jadeja had seemed the team's best batter and scored a counter-attacking 48 off 51. Even though the effort was enough for the team to ensure that they do not haveto follow on but still the team ended up conceding a 173-run lead. Pat Cummins with figures of 3 for 83 was the pick of the bowlers for Australia.
In the second innings, at the end of the day's play on Friday (June 9), Australia have already added 123/4 extending their total lead to 296 runs with Marnus Labuschagne batting on an unbeaten 41. Mohammed Siraj who was the most successful Indian bowler in the first innings, having scalped 4 wickets for 108 runs, has picked a wicket already in the second innings. Ravindra Jadeja (2/25) and Umesh Yadav (1/21) have been the other wicket takers for India.
Labuschagne and Cameron Green (7*) will resume the Australian innings on Saturday (June 10) and will hope to first bat out sufficient overs to rule out an India win before scoring quickly without the fear of losing wickets or announce a declaration to give their bowlers enough overs to bowl out India.

Cheteshwar Pujara has replaced Gill as play resumes after the tea break. The two Indian openers had started off positively and were looking really good before Gill's wicket. Would be interesting to see Pujara's approach here now who has just hit a boundary to get off the mark and end the 8th over. India- 45/1 after 8 overs.
