India And England Set New Record For Most Sixes In A 3-Match ODI Series

India vs England ODI series set a new all-time record for maximum sixes. As many as 70 sixes were hit in the three matches.

India and England set a new record for hitting the most number of sixes in a three-match ODI series. Both the teams in all hit 70 sixes. The record was previously held by New Zealand and Sri Lanka. They had hit a combined 57 sixes during a three-match ODI series in 2019. This record was broken by India and England during the 3rd ODI at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

Number three in this list of most combined sixes is England and India who registered 56 sixes in a 2017 three-match ODI series. In the 2021 series, Ben Stokes hit 10 sixes in a single game when he scored 99 off 52 balls. To hit 70 sixes in six innings tells you the story of how high scoring and fast-paced this series must have been. The ODI series was full of drama. The decider also went down the wire where Sam Curran almost won it for England with the help of tail-enders.

Out of the 70 sixes which were hit, 37 were hit by England 33 by India. Spinners were at the receiving end of this onslaught by bowlers. Kuldeep Yadav conceded the most 12 sixes, followed by Krunal Pandya at 11, Rashid at 9, Tom Curran and 7 and Shardul Thakur at five sixes.

This record doesn’t seem like that it will be broken any time soon. The two teams hit 13 more sixes than the teams who are at number 2. India won the ODI series 2-1 and completed the hat-trick of series wins against England.
