IND vs NZ 3rd Test: New Zealand Beat India By 25 Runs In Mumbai To Clinch Historic 3-0 Clean-Sweep

IND vs NZ 3rd Test: India suffered a historic 3-0 clean-sweep loss in a home Test series as New Zealand beat Rohit Sharma & Co by 25 runs in the third Test at Mumbai.

IND vs NZ 3rd Test: New Zealand, led by Tom Latham, defeated India by 25 runs in the IND vs NZ 3rd Test at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on November 3 (Sunday) to clinch the three-match series 3-0. This marked India’s first clean-sweep Test series loss at home in more than 24 years, with their last such defeat occurring against South Africa in 2000 at home. New Zealand's left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel was the chief architect in New Zealand's historic Test win at Mumbai.

India's impressive home winning streak of over a decade since 2012, which included 18 series victories, came to a sudden end as New Zealand defeated them by 173 runs in the 2nd IND vs NZ Test in Pune. And now, India suffered their first Test series clean-sweep at home since 2000. This also marks only the second instance that India have been clean-swept at home in a Test series ever in the history of cricket.

Ajaz Patel's 11-Wicket Haul Seals 25-Run Victory For New Zealand

Chasing the target of 147 runs, Rohit Sharma-led India were bundled out for just 121 runs, losing the Mumbai Test by 25 runs. Kiwi spinner Ajaz Patel bagged 11 wickets in the match as 36 of the 40 wickets in the IND vs NZ 3rd Test fell to spin bowling, India's Ravindra Jadeja also bagging 10 wickets in the match.

Rishabh Pant was India's lone half-centurion in the fourth innings and appeared poised to lead India to victory with a score of 64 and the team at 106/6, needing just 41 more runs. However, he was dismissed in a controversial manner as third umpire Paul Reiffel overturned the original on-field 'Not Out' call by umpire Richard Illinworth, after which the remaining wickets quickly fell.

Ajaz Patel claimed the figures of 5/103 & 6/57 respectively across the two innings in the IND vs NZ Test in Mumbai, for which he won the Man of the Match Award. New Zealand batter Wil Young scored half-centuries in both the innings and finished the series with 244 runs and won the Player of the Series award.
