88 Games Unveils Kapih, Folklore Inspired Adventure-Cum-Action Game, Here Are The Details
The gameplay blends classic platforming with run-and-gun action, horizontal shoot-em-up segments, and vehicle-based challenges.

88 Games, the gaming division of Emmy award-nominated studio 88 Pictures, has announced the launch of Kapih, its debut action platformer inspired by Indian mythology and art. The game, which will be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, reimagines stories from the Ramayana through fast-paced gameplay and hand-drawn visuals rooted in Indian artistic traditions.
What Is Kapih All About?
Set in ancient India, Kapih follows the journey of Vaanar, a young villager whose life changes when his home is destroyed by enemy forces. His quest for answers leads him to encounters with legendary figures and events from the epic. Unlike traditional retellings, the game highlights the struggles of ordinary people swept up in grand historical narratives.

The gameplay blends classic platforming with run-and-gun action, horizontal shoot-em-up segments, and vehicle-based challenges. Players can unlock new weapons, power-ups, and abilities, culminating in boss battles designed to test their reflexes and strategy. A local co-op mode allows two players to take on the adventure together, with Vaanar and his companion Bindu working in tandem to overcome obstacles and unravel the story.
Adding cultural authenticity, the game features dialogue entirely in Sanskrit, with 88 Games consulting Sanskrit scholars to ensure accuracy. The art style, dubbed “Kapih Style,” draws from traditional Indian art forms such as Kalamkari, Thanjavur, Warli, and Madhubani, giving the game a distinct visual identity. Landscapes and villages are hand-drawn with intricate patterns and motifs inspired by India’s artistic heritage.
The official trailer for Kapih premiered on Sony PlayStation’s platforms, marking a significant step for 88 Games' entry into the gaming market. With its blend of traditional storytelling, Indian art styles, and modern gameplay mechanics, Kapih positions itself as a notable addition to the growing catalog of culturally inspired games.
