‘There Was This Guy Called Rishabh Pant’: Rohit Sharma Gives Hilarious Reply To Ben Duckett’s ‘BazBall’ Comment

Rohit Sharma cheekily brushed aside Ben Duckett's comments that England deserved credit for Yashasvi Jaiswal's aggressive batting approach in the Rajkot Test.

India captain Rohit Sharma has playfully mocked England opener Ben Duckett, responding to Duckett's earlier comments suggesting that India's Yashasvi Jaiswal adopted an aggressive batting style in Test cricket due to the influence of ‘BazBall’. During the pre-match press conference ahead of the final India vs England Test on March 6 (Wednesday), Rohit quipped that Duckett might not have witnessed Rishabh Pant's aggressive batting in Test cricket.

During the third IND vs ENG Test match in Rajkot, where Yashasvi Jaiswal notched his second double hundred of the series, Ben Duckett had commented that ‘BazBall’ deserved some credit for the young batter’s aggressive style of play in the series. Duckett's remarks sparked discussions and banter, leading to playful responses from Rohit Sharma.

“When you see players from the opposition playing like that, it almost feels like we should take some credit that they’re playing differently than how other people play Test cricket. We saw it a bit in the summer and it’s quite exciting to see other players and other teams are also playing that aggressive style of cricket,” Duckett had said.

Rohit Sharma's Hilarious Response To Ben Duckett's Comment

Addressing the media in the pre-match press conference before the commencement of the fifth and final Test match, Rohit Sharma didn’t back from taking a dig at Ben Duckett on March 6 (Wednesday).

"There was this guy called Rishabh Pant, probably Duckett hasn’t seen him bat," said Rohit while speaking to the reporters as quoted by The Indian Express.

'Don’t Know What BazBall Means': Rohit Sharma

Once again queried about ‘BazBall’ ahead of the final Test, Rohit Sharma responded by expressing uncertainty about what ‘BazBall’ actually is. He added that he had not observed any mindless attacking from the England team throughout the series and that this time around, England played better cricket that the last time they were in India.

“Honestly don’t know what BazBall means. Whether it is strike, I don’t know what this terms means. They played better cricket when they were here in the last series. Credit to two (Three) of the batters who scored a ton here”, said Rohit.
