WATCH: Rohit Sharma Slams Turf In Frustration After Dropping Catch, Ruining Axar Patel’s Hat-Trick Chance

IND vs BAN: Team India captain Rohit Sharma failed to grab onto a simple catch, denying Axar Patel a chance at a hat-trick during the India vs Bangladesh Champions Trophy 2025 match. Watch below.

IND vs BAN: Indian captain Rohit Sharma was seen being livid with himself as he denied Axar Patel a well-deserved hat-trick in the IND vs BAN Champions Trophy 2025 match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on February 20 (Thursday). Rohit, positioned at first slip, slammed the ground three or four times in frustration after spilling the catch. Notably, the dropped catch ended the possibility for Axar Patel to become the first Indian to take a hat-trick in the Champions Trophy history.

The moment came in the ninth over when Axar dismissed Tanzid Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim in consecutive deliveries. Axar then bowled a flighted delivery to Jakir Ali, drawing an outside edge that went straight to Rohit Sharma who failed to latch onto the catch.

The Indian skipper slammed his hand on the ground in frustration before apologising to Axar Patel. Axar had found the edge of Zakir Ali’s bat, sending the ball straight to Rohit at an ideal height, but he couldn't hold on. Despite the missed chance, Axar’s double breakthrough left Bangladesh reeling at 35/5, following early strikes from Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana.

After Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and chose to bat first, India's bowlers tore through the top order. Shami and Rana claimed the first three wickets, dismissing opener Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim and skipper captain Shanto for ducks. Mehidy Hasan Miraz managed just five runs before falling to Shami.
