IND vs AUS WTC Final: Virat Kohli Calls 34-Year-Old Aussie Star 'Best Test Player Of This Generation'

Virat Kohli and Steven Smith are squaring off these days at Oval cricket stadium in England in the ongoing India vs Australia World Test Championship (WTC) Final.

IND vs AUS WTC Final: Former India skipper Virat Kohli called Australia premier Steven Smith the best Test batter of this generation, considering his consistency and "unbelievable" average of scoring runs. Kohli's big praise for Smith is of high relevance, especially when it's coming from arguably the greatest all-format batter of this generation. Both legendary batters are squaring off these days at Oval cricket stadium in England in the ongoing India vs Australia World Test Championship (WTC) Final. Virat made these comments in an exclusive conversation with Star Sports ahead of IND vs AUS WTC Final 2023 Test match.

"I think Steve Smith mere hisab se iss generation ke best Test player hai aur c kaafi samay se unhone ye display kiya hai ki unki adaptability jo hai vo sabse kamaal ki hai. Jitne bhi aap Tes cricketers le le iss generation ke, unka record aap sab ko pata he hai. 85 ya 90 Test matches mein unki 60 ki average hai, which is quite unbelieveable. Aur jis consistency aur impact se vo run banate hai, maine kisi Test player ko pichle 10 saal mein aisa impact nahi laate dekha ground par. To vo unki skill aur temperament ko credit hai aur hamare liye unki team mein main player vo hai along with Marnus Labuschagne jo bahut achi cricket khel rahe hai. Steve Smith ne historically hamesha hamare against run banaye hai, England mein bhi acha perform kiya hua hai, toh un jaise bade player ko aap yahi kosish karte hai ki jaldi se jaldi out kare kyuki agar vo khelenge lambe samay tak to vo match winning impact bana sakte hai. (According to me, Steve Smith is the best Test player of this generation. He has displayed that, his adaptability is absolutely brilliant. You take any cricketer of this generation," Kohli said ahead of the ongoing World Test Championship final between India and Australia. Everybody knows his record, in 85-90 Tests, he has an average of 60 which is quite unbelievable. The consistency and impact with which he scores runs, I haven't seen any Test player doing that in last 10 years. It is credit to his skill and temperament."

34-year-old Smith has scored 8792 runs from 96 Tests at an average of 59.80 with 30 hundreds and 37 fifties.
