IND vs AUS: Rohit Sharma Becomes 1st Indian Captain To Score Centuries In All 3 Formats
IND vs AUS: Rohit Sharma got to the three-figures mark with the help of 14 boundaries and 2 sixes.
India captain Rohit Sharma completed a splendid hundred in the 1st Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Vidarbha Cricket Association in Nagpur on Friday. The Hitman achieved the feat on Day 2 of the Test match. After the Men in Blue bowled out the opposition for 177 in the first innings, Rohit led from the front in India's response and even though wickets fell around him on a difficult track to play, especially against the spinners, the 35-year-old stayed determined and ready to fight it out.
Rohit got to the three-figures mark with the help of 14 boundaries and 2 sixes. He broke a plethora of record on his way to what was his 9th Test match century but none perhaps more impressive than the fact that he became the first India captain to score centuries in all three formats. He joined Tillakaratne Dilshan, Faf du Plessis and Babar Azam in this elite club. This was also Rohit's first Test century against Australia and the first time in 524 days that he got to a ton in the longest form of the game.
Smiles, claps & appreciation all around! 😊 👏

Meanwhile, Rohit is only the 13th Indian player to score a hundred as a Test match captain. He joined yet another star-studded list which has Vijay Hazare, MAK Pataudi, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Dilip Vengsarkar, Mohd. Azharuddin, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane.
Thanks to his ton, India have taken a first innings lead against Australia with 5 wickets in the bag and would now want to score as many runs as possible. Ideally, the home team would only want to bat once in this match as batting in the fourth innings could turn out to be extremely tricky. Ravindra Jadeja stayed unbeaten with Rohit when the latter got to his hundred.
