Then Siraj intensified the pressure on Australia by picking up two key wickets, dismissing Mitchell Marsh (6) and Alex Carey (8) to further dent their innings.

The seventh and final wicket of Day 1 was claimed by skipper Bumrah, whose delivery took Pat Cummins' outside edge, with wicketkeeper Pant completing a simple catch.

India's innings started disastrously with openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal both dismissed for ducks. Virat Kohli followed soon after, making only 5 runs. KL Rahul was the top scorer for India with 26 runs off 74 balls.

Dhruv Jurel contributed 11 runs (20 balls), while Washington Sundar (4), Harshit Rana (7), and Jasprit Bumrah (8) also failed to score big. The standout performer for India was debutant Nitish Reddy, who displayed resilience, scoring 41 runs off 59 balls, including 6 fours and a six.

For Australia, Josh Hazlewood was the star with the ball, claiming 4 wickets, while Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Marsh all contributed with 2 wickets each.
