IND vs AUS: Gabba Test Ends In A Draw As Play Gets Abandoned Due To Rain On Day 5

IND vs AUS 3rd Test: Australia and India will move to Melbourne with BGT levelled at 1-1 as Day 5 of the Gabba Test was abandoned due to incessant rain in Brisbane.

IND vs AUS 3rd Test: Rain had the final say in the India vs Australia third Test at The Gabba in Brisbane, resulting in a draw as persistent showers on Day 5 made play impossible. Australia and India produced a memorable Day 5, as both sides showed positive intent to force a result but the continued rain made any further play impossible as after 3 matches, the series remains levelled at 1-1.

Indian Bowlers Shine In Rout Of Australian Batting Order

Jasprit Bumrah, as usual, was breathing fire, as his ruthless spell produced key dismissals of Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne. The New South Wales boys failed to provide the home side with a positive start, and with that, Australia were reeling at 16/2. Just when they thought Nathan McSweeney and Steve Smith can guide the side out of trouble, Mohammed Siraj found his footing, and Australia found themselves thwarted at 33/5.

Cameos from Pat Cummins and Travis Head ensured Australia posted the target around of 275, but Indian bowlers were ruthless in their approach and forced Australia to declare their innings at the score of 89/7.

In their chase of 275, India were 8/0 after 2.1 overs before rain had it's say, and now, things have become even tougher for India, with them requiring two wins atleast to strengthen their position for the contention of WTC 2025 Final.

Pat Cummins' Reaction On Gabba Test Draw

Pat Cummins (Australia Captain):

"I mean it would have been better if we were 2-1. But a lot of rain in this Test. The guys have stepped up really well and happy with it. Poor Josh but it is one of those things. I guess the few rain breaks helped us a bit to get going. Day five can be a bit up and down. Not a lot of cricket was played on it. It was challenging when the ball was hard."

"Smithy and Travis' innings were fantastic. Also, Carey's innings was wonderful to get us to 450. Nathan looked really good yesterday. Starcy took wickets. So, happy with their efforts and just about ticked off the boxes. (On Boxing Day Test) It will be amazing. It's one of those things here in Australia that you wake up on the Boxing Day and to get a packed house, it can't get any better."
